Pixel Perfect: Responsive Web Development and Minimalist Design

I love the Internet. That doesn't make me any different than any other kid in my generation; it's a majority of where we consume information and entertainment. What I love the most about it is how malleable it is. Anyone and everyone can add their own notches and tweaks to bits and pieces of the Internet and it's amazing.

Building Tools for Creativity with David Karp

I really wanted to go to this interview specifically to see Tumblr creator David Karp. I am a self-affirmed Tumblr addict and think it's personally one of the most fantastic forms of social networking on the internet. Although the weird humored, anti-social, bad pun-telling blogs I run around with there may not be it's intended purpose, I think Tumblr creates a very nice open space for anyone to say whatever they want without judgement.

Cory Booker: New Media Politician

SXSW is a huge event. There are events/panels/films/shows going on constantly, which means that you often have to pick and choose the thing you want to most if a couple of things happen to overlap in your schedule. Being the ridiculously indecisive person that I am, this is often quite difficult for me. I love all of the opportunities that SXSW presents, but at the same time, I don't want to miss a thing. I picked Mayor Cory Booker's event over seeing Rachel Maddow.

Naturally Social: Coming Home

The best way to describe this panel was a diamond in the rough. While a majority of SXSWers are non-black, this panel would only seem outwardly appealing to a very small fraction of the festival's audience. On top of the tiny demographic the Blacks in Technology (BiT) serves, this panel interestingly divided that market by almost half; this panel was about natural hair.

New Format

So I've decided instead of doing a recap of my entire day at SXSW, I'd just do a recap of each individual panel/event that I attended that I found particularly interesting or fun! I just downloaded the Blogger app, which makes this easier to do from my phone instead of coming home every night and trying to remember exactly what I did during the day. I have a pretty bad memory and SXSW days are like a week rolled up into one day since so much goes on. Anyway, over the next week I'll be doling out these (hopefully) short snippets of the cool things I'm doing and learning!
